Ohio Tank Tracking and   Environmental Regulations

Welcome to State of Ohio's OTTER ON-LINE BUSINESS OFFICE!

The Division of State Fire Marshal effectively regulates the safe operation of underground storage tanks and to ensure appropriate investigation and cleanup of releases from underground storage tanks for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment for the citizens of Ohio. The Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) is responsible for all releases, corrective action and enforcement of the UST regulations. The Bureau of Testing and Registration is responsible for the licensing of UST installers and inspectors, registration and  issuance of permits for UST systems.

The OTTER on-line data base system was created to provide Ohio's UST customers the ability to process on-line tank registration, tracking incident information,  download forms and information, process permit applications including credit card payment transactions, and other relevant information.

To further assist our customers, we have created the One Stop Tank Shop to streamline the registration, payment of fees and permit process. By registering your tanks with the One Stop Tank Shop, you will be complying with the registration requirements of the Office of State Fire Marshal, the Petro Board and SERC. This data is shared among these state agencies using file transfer protocol (FTP) technology providing instant data sharing.
