Welcome to Testing & Registration, a Bureau of the State of Ohio Fire Marshal's Office!

The Bureau's mission is to oversee the regulatory responsibilities of over 50,000 companies and individuals regulated by the State Fire Marshal. The Bureau presently consists of eight employees and oversees:

• Underground storage tank registration and permit system

• Fire Protection equipment certification

• Hotel/motels licenses

• Explosive magazine storage permits

• Fireworks out-of-state shippers

• Fireworks Exhibitor License

• Fireworks manufacturers/wholesalers

• Fireworks Registered Assistant

• Flame Effect License

Since its creation, the Bureau has concentrated its efforts on improving processing time for the completion of test results, data integrity of under ground storage tanks in the state, and maintaining stricter enforcement of hotel/motel licenses. In addition, the Bureau is heavily focused on data imaging of records and computer program revisions in accordance with the State Fire Marshal's evolution into e-government. The Bureau of Testing & Registration is funded through an assessment of fire insurance premiums sold in Ohio. Additional funding is derived from licensure, certification and renewal fees.
