"Harvey"

"Harvey Wilt Cummings" is named after retired State Fire Marshal's Investigator Harvey Wilt, who adopted him from the Darke County Dog Pound and donated him to handler Dennis Cummings to be used as a working partner in 1996.

Harvey is a male Labrador Retriever, English Breed.  He is wrapping up his 5th year in the service of the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Even though he weighs in at 98 pounds, when Harvey is working a fire scene, he is agile enough to climb and descend ladders and cross beams on foot.

Harvey is certified as an Accelerant Detection Canine by the Maine State Police Academy.  His most successful moment in law enforcement was assisting in the investigation of the Leland Avenue Arson/Homicide in Lima, Allen County, Ohio.  There were five tragic deaths, but Harvey helped locate evidence used to convict all 10 of the people responsible in the case.
