INFORMATION REGARDING THE OFFICE OF STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S ROLE IN HOMELAND SECURITY

The State Fire Marshal is a member of the State of Ohio Security Task Force - The Intragency Executive Level working group assigned by the Governor to coordinate local and state response to natural and man-made disasters with emphasis on foreign and domestic terrorism.  As Fire Marshal, he is specifically responsible for Fire and Rescue preparedness, response and recovery to such incidents across the State of Ohio.

The Office of State Fire Marshal will continue its effort to coordinate with Ohio's Fire Service to keep Ohioans safe. In accomplishing this mission, the Division of State Fire Marshal has put in service a Major Incident Response Vehicle, MIRV. This unit which consist of state-of-the-art communication and satellite equipment, can be mobilized immediately and dispatched to that area of the State in need.

State Fire Marshal personnel in predetermined threat levels designated by the Governor, man the State of Ohio Emergency Operation Center (EOC).
