Superintendent Kelly Davids

Kelly Davids began serving as Superintendent of the Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing in April 2005. As Superintendent, Ms. Davids is responsible for the licensing and certification of Ohio's real estate brokers, real estate salespersons, and real property appraisers, as well as for the registration of cemeteries located throughout the state. She oversees the work of more than 50 employees with offices in Columbus and Cleveland. “Regulation of the real estate, appraiser, and cemetery industries in Ohio requires a balanced, customer-oriented approach,” Davids said. “The Division staff is knowledgeable and focused. Through clarity of mission and purpose, we will work collaboratively to provide needed consumer protections without being overly restrictive to the normal course of business.” With more than 20 years in public service, Davids' experience in improving government performance at the state and local levels is well known. Ms. Davids began her service at the state level in 1999. Prior to joining the Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing, she directed the Office of Reading Improvement at the Ohio Department of Education where she administered a budget of more than $60 million and was instrumental in aligning the state's numerous reading initiatives for a more comprehensive and results-oriented system. At the local level, Davids served as the elected Clerk of the Marion County Court of Common Pleas from 1993 – 1999, during which time service hours were extended, a one-stop titling and licensing center with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles was created, and audit findings from the previous administration were corrected. She also previously held positions of Deputy Clerk of the Marion Municipal Court's Civil Division, and Mayor of the Village of LaRue. Davids holds a degree in Public Administration from Franklin University . She has been married to husband Phil for 25 years. They have a daughter, Abby, who is a student at the OSU College of Medicine. |
