DAVID M. WILLIAMSON NAMED SUPERINTENDENT OF INDUSTRIAL COMPLIANCE

 

Director of Commerce Gary C. Suhadolnik has appointed David M. Williamson as Superintendent of the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Industrial Compliance. Mr. Williamson will begin serving as Superintendent on Monday, April 26, 1999.

As Superintendent of Industrial Compliance, Williamson will manage the division responsible for construction plan review, building permits, inspections on boilers and elevators, and licensing of trades such as boiler-operators. It does this through its Bureaus of construction compliance, operations and maintenance, and licensing and certification. The division also houses the Board of Building Appeals, Board of Building Standards, Ohio Construction Industry Examining Board, the Ski Tramway Board, and the State Fire Marshal's BUSTR and code enforcement section.

"David Williamson's managerial insight and superior leadership will be an asset to the Division of Industrial Compliance," said Director Suhadolnik.

Immediately prior to his appointment, he was Executive Director of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology from 1996 to 1999. Before that he served as Training Representative for the Business and Industry Training Division of Columbus State Community College from 1994 to 1996.

Mr. Williamson spent most of his professional life in the military and retired as a Colonel after twenty-eight years in the United States Air Force. During his long and distinguished career, he served in many positions of distinction where he was able to utilize his extensive experience and leadership abilities. Some of the positions he held include: Director, Strategy, Planning and Doctrine Headquarters, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, 1992-1994 and Director, Operations Support Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Offutt Air Force Base, 1991-1992.
