ROBERT GRIESER NAMED DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT FOR CONSUMER FINANCE
Commerce Director Gary C. Suhadolnik and Superintendent of Financial Institutions F. Scott ODonnell today announced the appointment of Robert M. Grieser as Deputy Superintendent for Consumer Finance. Mr. Grieser will begin his new duties on Monday, June 7.
As Deputy Superintendent for Consumer Finance, Mr. Grieser will be responsible for the regulation of approximately 1,500 consumer finance entities including check-cashers, check casher-lenders, credit service organizations, pawnbrokers, precious metals dealers, insurance premium finance companies, mortgage brokers, licensees under the Ohio Small Loan Act and registrants under the Ohio Mortgage Loan Act.
Mr. Grieser is an experienced consumer finance regulator. From 1980 to 1987, he served as chief examiner of the former Division of Consumer Finance. He then joined ITT Consumer Financial Corporation and served as Vice President for Government Affairs until 1993. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Superintendent, he served as Marketing Director for General American. Mr. Grieser has worked with regulators and legislators in eight states on consumer finance issues, and has been active in state trade associations.
Superintendent ODonnell said, "Bob Grieser has the right combination of regulatory and management experience in the consumer finance industry. Im looking forward to working with him."
Mr. Grieser resides in Delaware with his wife Karyn.
