OHIO BANKERS DAY CONFERENCE TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY

Newest Member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Roger W. Ferguson, To Speak

The Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Financial Institutions and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will sponsor the Ohio Bankers Day Conference on Thursday, March 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency, 350 North High Street, Columbus. This is the second year that the conference has been co-sponsored by the state regulator, the Division of Financial Institutions, and the federal regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

"Ohio Bankers Day is an outstanding opportunity to discuss issues critical to Ohio's banking industry," said Donna Owens, director of the Department of Commerce. "Approximately 300 top officials from state and national banks will come together to discuss timely topics with regulators."

The conference will feature Federal Reserve Board Governor Roger W. Ferguson, the newest member of the Board. His speech is titled "The Changing Banking Environment and Directions for Public Policy". A press availability with Governor Ferguson has been scheduled for approximately 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

In addition, Dr. David W. Cole, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, will outline his vision of successful banking organizations of the future. The conference will be opened by Lieutenant Governor Nancy P. Hollister and Director of Commerce Donna Owens.
