DIRECTOR OF COMMERCE DONNA OWENS
TO PRESENT EQUIPMENT TO TOLEDO METROPARKS
Who: Director of Commerce Donna Owens, Toledo Metroparks Director Jean Ward, Providence Metropark Manager Steve Dey, students from Otsego Junior High School, and members of the media.
What: Steam pump donation to Providence Metropark and the Issac Ludwig Mill by the Ohio Department of Commerce.
Where: Providence Metropark, 13827 US Route 24, Grand Rapids, Ohio
When: Thursday, August 28, 1997 at 11:00 a.m.
Notes: Director Owens will be donating steam pumps to the Issac Ludwig Mill, located in Providence Metropark, to be used in their water power interpretive center which displays and demonstrates the various applications of water power. The center is frequented by hundreds of school children and adults throughout the year to reflect on the days when steam and water power provided electricity, flour, meal, and livestock feed to northwest Ohio. The mill has been in operation for over 140 years.
The media is welcome to join Director Owens and Director Ward on a canal boat tour beginning at noon. They will be touring the Wabash and Miami Canals on a vintage canal boat which departs from Kimble's Landing. The tour will last 45 minutes.
