ARSON DOGS AND ARSON CRIME LAB TOUR
TO HIGHLIGHT ARSON AWARENESS WEEK
Who: Director of Commerce Donna Owens, State Fire Marshal James
McNamee, Arson Investigator Dennis Cummings and his two
arson dogs, members of the media.
What: Photo opportunity in conjunction with Arson Awareness Week.
Where: State Fire Academy, Division of State Fire Marshal, 8895 East
Main Street, Reynoldsburg.
When: Wednesday, May 7th, 1997 at 1:30 p.m.
Notes: Two accelerant detection canines (better known as arson dogs) will
demonstrate their ability to sniff out ignitable liquids used in arson
fires. The dogs enhance law enforcement's ability to prosecute
arsonists by saving investigators time by pinpointing accelerants
at a fire scene and providing more accurate samples for laboratory
analysis.
After the demonstration, reporters are invited to tour the Arson Crime Lab to learn how evidence from fire scenes is processed,
examined, and analyzed.
***To help facilitate tours, media planning to attend the arson dog demonstration
should contact Thomas Ratcliff or Dennis Ginty in advance.
