D. RUSSELL LEE CAREER TECHNOLOGY CENTER STUDENTS TO HEAR PERSONAL FINANCE TIPS FROM OHIO DIVISION OF SECURITIES SPEAKER

National Study Says Teens Not Prepared For Their Financial Future

Mike Quinn, Enforcement Attorney with the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Securities, will highlight the importance of saving and investing in presentations at D. Russel Lee Career Technology Center, 3603 Hamilton-Middletown Road, Hamilton, on Tuesday, April 24.   He will make a total of five presentations between 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 2:05 p.m.

The presentations, which are being made in connection with Ohio’s observance of Saving and Investing Education Month, follow the release of a national survey highlighting the lack of financial knowledge of America’s teens.  The  “America’s Money Skills Report Card” study found that young Americans have limited understanding of financial issues and how they can prepare for their financial futures.

Susan Molinari, national chairperson of Americans for Consumer Education and Competitition, said that the study demonstrates that teaching children personal money skills today can help determine whether they pass or fail life’s financial tests tomorrow.

Mr. Quinn will discuss the importance of saving and investing to secure a healthy financial future.

Note:  Media interested in attending should report to the school's office prior to the personal finance presentations.
