NEWARK ROTARY CLUB TO HEAR INVESTOR PROTECTION TIPS
FROM OHIO SECURITIES COMMISSIONER THOMAS E. GEYER
Thursdays Presentation Part Of Saving And Investing Education Month
Ohio Securities Commissioner Thomas E. Geyer will discuss investor protection at the
Newark Rotary Club on Thursday, April 20 at the Moundbuilders Country Club, 125 N. 33rd Street, Newark. The breakfast meeting begins at 6:45 a.m. with State Representative David Evans introducing Commissioner Geyer at 7:30 a.m.
Governor Bob Taft has proclaimed April to be Saving and Investing Education Month in the State of Ohio. This observance month, which is part of a national investor education campaign, is designed to encourage consumers to save, invest wisely, and protect themselves against fraudulent schemes.
Commissioner Geyers presentation is titled "Thoughts on Investing Responsibly." He will discuss the role of the Ohio Division of Securities as well as the importance of developing a financial plan, understanding the markets, and selecting among various saving and investment products. As Securities Commissioner, Geyer oversees the Ohio Department of Commerces Division of Securities which is responsible for protecting investors from unfair and fraudulent practices in the securities industry.
