Five Area Fire Departments to Receive Grants from State Fire Marshal
State Fire Marshal Robert R. Rielage will present fire grants to four Jefferson County volunteer fire departments and one Belmont County department in a ceremony to be held at the New Alexandria Fire Department, 3687 SR 151, Mingo Junction at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23rd.
The grants are part of $1.78 million in grants being awarded to small and volunteer departments by the State Fire Marshal for training and equipment.
The grants will be presented to:
- Chief Robert Millick of the Belevedre Volunteer Fire Department, who will receive $8,000 towards the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Chief Doug Dugan of the Glen Robbins Volunteer Fire Department, who will receive $10,000 towards the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus and firefighter protective clothing.
- Chief Harry Gotschall of the Stratton Volunteer Fire Department, who will receive $4,944 towards the purchase of firefighter protective clothing and tools.
- Chief Danny Bell of the New Alexandria Fire Department, who will receive $8,000 towards the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus and firefighter protective clothing.
- Chief Frank Goletz of the Community Volunteer Fire Department Maynard, Inc., who will receive $5,204 towards the purchase of firefighter protective clothing and tools.

The Division of State Fire Marshal is part of the Ohio Department of Commerce. The Fire Marshal's Office trains firefighters, enforces the Ohio Fire Code, investigates the cause and origins of fires and explosions, provides fire prevention programs, and performs other services. Other Commerce divisions enforce regulations regarding industrial compliance, financial institutions, liquor, real estate, securities, unclaimed funds, worker safety and wage issues.
