State Fire Marshal, Local Police and Fire Investigate Cause of Fireworks Incident

Investigators for the State Fire Marshal continue to investigate the cause of the July 4th fireworks incident in Woodville. The Fireworks Incident Team, comprised of arson investigators and code enforcement officials from the Fire Marshal's Office is working in conjunction with the Woodville police and fire departments.

Examination of the physical scene has concluded and the current emphasis is on conducting interviews of victims and witnesses. As of 3 p.m. today, Explosives and Pyrotechnics Administrator David Schroeder issued the following statement.

We are continuing to interview witnesses and cooperate with local police and fire officials. Once our investigation is complete and the appropriate reports are written, the State Fire Marshal will be presented with the results. At that time, he will make a determination as to what further action, if any, needs to be taken.
