GOVERNOR TAFT APPOINTS CREDIT UNION COUNCIL MEMBERS
Governor Bob Taft appointed the members of the Credit Union Council on Tuesday. House Bill 510 expanded the council to seven members and defined the council’s role to advising the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Financial Institutions regarding issues affecting Ohio’s state-chartered credit unions. The council will meet quarterly.
The Division of Financial Institutions and the Ohio Credit Union League worked together to propose the statutory language to expand the council’s advisory role and to provide for the confirmation of fee assessments paid by the credit unions to fund their regulation.
The new members of the council are:
- Thomas L. Furrey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Credit Union, Inc. in Columbus, was appointed for a term ending September 22, 2003. He has participated in numerous workshops, seminars and conferences. Mr. Furrey resides in Grove City.
- John R. Lattanzi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Union One Credit Union, Inc. in North Jackson, was appointed for a term ending September 22, 2002. He received his A.S. degree from Youngstown State University. Mr. Lattanzi resides in North Jackson.
- Marta Liscynesky, an attorney, was appointed as a public member for a term ending September 22, 2002. She received her B.A. degree and M.B.A. from Baldwin-Wallace College and her J.D. degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Ms. Liscynesky resides in Broadview Heights.
- Patrick J. McGrady, Managing Officer and President of Toledo Area Catholic Credit Union, Inc. in Sylvania, was appointed for a term ending September 22, 2001. He received his B.S. degree from Western Michigan University and his M.A. degree from Michigan State University. Mr. McGrady resides in Holland, Ohio.
- Deanna K. Meyer, Chief Executive Officer of ORMET Credit Union, Inc. in Clarington, was appointed for a term ending September 22, 2001. She received her B.S. degree from Wheeling Jesuit University. Ms. Meyer resides in Clarington.
- Dianne A. Peck, Managing Officer of Bethany Baptist Church Credit Union, Inc. in Cleveland, was appointed for a term ending September 22, 2003. She received her B.A. degree from Ohio University. Ms. Peck resides in Cleveland.
- Kenneth A. Roberts, Deputy Superintendent for Credit Unions in the Division of Financial Institutions, will serve as council chairperson in accordance with Ohio law.
