ROBERT McCLUSKY NAMED CHAIR

OF THE OHIO AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

 

The Board of Trustees of the newly formed Ohio Award for Excellence has appointed Robert McClusky as the organization’s chair.  As chair, McClusky will be responsible for facilitating meetings and coordinating and overseeing subcommittees.

 

“Rob McClusky has been a driving force for organizational excellence.  His impressive background makes him an ideal choice to lead the Ohio Award for Excellence (OAE) council,” said Susan Nagel, member of the OAE board of trustees and Director of Quality for the Ohio Department of Commerce, which provides support for OAE.  “Through his dedicated support of this award program, he has generously shared of his time and talents, to the benefit of countless Ohio organizations.”

 

McClusky received his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston and a B.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.  He was an examiner for five years with the Massachusetts Quality Award.  He is a Malcolm Baldrige examiner and has written numerous feedback reports for them.  McClusky belongs to the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and previously chaired their Business Process Improvement Committee.

 

Rob McClusky focuses on implementing Baldrige in a manufacturing, service and information systems company. As Baldrige Manager since 1997, his emphasis is on bringing the theory and practice of this approach to Picker International, a 5000 person organization based in Cleveland, Ohio that serves the medical imaging market around the world. Previously, he was Quality Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation, a computer equipment manufacturer in Massachusetts.

 

McClusky has written and conducted workshops for a wide variety of audiences on topics related to time-based process management, statistical process control, team skills, leading major organizational change, public speaking, and investing. He was a contributor to Purser and Cabana’s 1998 book, The Self Managing Organization.

 

Mr. McClusky currently resides in Painesville Township.

 

The Ohio Award for Excellence was created to promote overall competitiveness and growth of Ohio-based organizations in domestic and global markets by developing and recognizing those organizations that practice measurable continuous improvement and utilize outstanding processes to achieve customer-focused performance excellence.

 

The award is open to all organizations in business, education, health care, government and not-for-profit sectors.  The award, presented annually, is based on criteria which covers the areas of leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, information and analysis, workforce development, process management and the business results achieved.
