F. SCOTT O'DONNELL NAMED SUPERINTENDENT OF FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

Director of Commerce Gary C. Suhadolnik has appointed F. Scott O'Donnell as Superintendent of the Ohio Department of Commerce's Division of Financial Institutions. Mr. O'Donnell will begin serving as Superintendent on Monday, March 1.

As Superintendent of Financial Institutions, O'Donnell will oversee Ohio's state-chartered banks, savings and loans, savings banks, credit unions, and various consumer finance companies.

"Scott O'Donnell's experience as a financial institution executive and regulator will be a tremendous asset to the Division of Financial Institutions," Director Suhadolnik said.

Before his appointment, O'Donnell served as Deputy Tax Commissioner with the Ohio Department of Taxation from 1995 to 1999.

He has extensive experience in the regulation of financial institutions. He began his regulatory career in 1965 as a national bank examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency. From 1975 to 1977, O'Donnell served as Ohio Superintendent of Banks. While Superintendent, he was instrumental in developing legislation to change the Division's method of funding and upgrading the qualifications of state bank examiners. In addition to his regulatory experience, O'Donnell served as a Senior Vice President of Society Corporation and Director and Executive Vice President of Heritage Bancorp in Toronto, Ohio.

Mr. O'Donnell and his wife Ann reside in Avon Lake.
