October 1 Auction of 10,000 Deposit Box Items Only Third in Unclaimed Funds History

What: A press conference/media availability highlighting items to be sold at the October 1 Ohio Department of Commerce Unclaimed Funds Auction

Why: To generate interest and participation in the Division of Unclaimed Funds auction, which will be held October 1, in Reynoldsburg. Commerce will be auctioning items recovered from unclaimed safety deposit boxes collected since 1968. More than 10,000 items will be sold in more than 250 lots. This is only the third auction since the unclaimed funds program began in 1968.
Details: Director Owens and Chief Baker will make brief comments and be available for interviews. On display will be a number of lots to be sold at the auction, including confederate money, 100 ounce silver bars, gold coins, rare coins and stock certificates.
