Superintendent of Financial Institutions F. Scott O’Donnell has named Michael O. Roark as Deputy Superintendent for Banks. Mr. Roark will assume his new duties on Tuesday, September 3.
As Deputy Superintendent for Banks, Mr. Roark will be responsible for the supervision and regulation of Ohio’s 116 state-chartered banks.
His career in the financial services industry began in 1962. In 1998, Mr. Roark retired as the Retail Banking Executive for the Dayton district of Key Bank. Most recently he has worked as a consultant for an accounting firm specializing in financial institutions.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Roark was President of Society National Bank in Springfield and Executive Vice President of Sales and Product Management for Society’s office in Columbus. He also has served as President and CEO of Scioto Savings in Columbus and Chief Financial Officer for Railroad Savings and Loan Company in Columbus. In addition, he once served as a field examiner for the former Division of Savings and Loans.
“Michael’s experience and expertise with Ohio’s financial institutions will be a great asset to the Division as we regulate Ohio’s state-chartered banks,” Superintendent O’Donnell said.
Mr. Roark resides in Grove City.

The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Financial Institutions regulates Ohio’s state-chartered banks, savings and loans/savings banks, and credit unions. The division also regulates consumer finance companies.
