GOVERNOR APPOINTS MEMBERS
OF SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATIONS AND SAVINGS BANKS BOARD

Governor Bob Taft has appointed the members of the Savings and Loan Associations and Savings Banks Board.    

The board will serve in an advisory role to the Division of Financial Institutions regarding the regulation of Ohio’s 68 state-chartered savings and loan associations and savings banks.  The board also approves the fees charged to the institutions to fund the division’s regulatory efforts.  The members are: 

Robert L. Bollin, from Cincinnati, is President of The Winton Savings and Loan Company in Cincinnati and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2004.  He is second vice chairman of the Ohio League of Financial Institutions.  He received his B.S. degree from Miami University.    

Howard T. Boyle II, from Kent, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Home Savings Bank in Kent and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2004.  He is a past chairman and current trustee of the Ohio League of Financial Institutions.  He received his B.A. degree from Ashland University. 

Larry A. Caldwell, from Cambridge, is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director and Chairman of the Board of Camco Financial Corp. in Cambridge and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2005.  He is honorary trustee and past chairman of the Ohio League of Financial Institutions, past board member of the U.S. League of Financial Institutions, and past board member and vice chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati.    

Betty Kimbrew, from Chardon, is President of Geauga Savings Bank in Newbury and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2003.  She graduated from Kent State University.    

Kenneth T. Koehler, from Mayfield Heights, is President and Chief Operating Officer of Metropolitan Bank and Trust in Highland Hills and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2005.  He graduated from Duquesne University and from Xavier University graduate school.   

Charles A. Thigpen, from Cleveland Heights, is Senior Vice President of Third Federal Savings & Loan in Cleveland and was appointed to a term ending January 31, 2003.    He received his B.S. degree from Grambling State University. 

 

Neil G. Danziger, Deputy Superintendent for Savings and Loan Associations and Savings Banks, will serve as the board’s chairperson in accordance with Ohio law.
