CONSUMER FINANCE
The Division of Financial Institutions’ Consumer Finance Section is responsible for regulating non-depository consumer finance companies in
Ohio. Consumer Finance staff perform these duties consistent with the Department of Commerce’s mission
“To fulfill our legal obligations to
safeguard the public, while striving to regulate commerce in a reasonable, fair and efficient manner."
In regulating consumer finance companies, the Consumer Finance Section strives to balance the needs of consumers with those of industry.
Our staff is here to provide and promote an effective regulatory scheme that maximizes consumer protection without overly burdening the
industries we regulate. Our Office of Consumer Affairs serves as an informational resource for Ohioans who are utilizing our regulated
industries.
